What do they look like?

Spotted seals have a round head, narrow snout, and small body, as well as a pair of thin, short flippers. Adult spotted seals are a mix of gray, silver and white with dark gray/black spots all around their bodies. Babies, also called pups, are born with a white coat that usually sheds at the time of weaning and replaced with a coat that is the same or close to the same as the adults. Spotted seals grow to average lengths of 5 feet, with weights ranging from 140 to 250 pounds. Pups usually weigh only 15 to 25 pounds at birth, so cute! (Picture Below)

Threats.

Spotted Seals are protected animals. Although the exact amount is not certain, there is estimated to be only 500,000 Spotted Seals around the world. So, what is causing is you may be wondering? Climate change is a big factor in the decrease of spotted seals. They rely on the melting and freezing of the ice. Its all about timing. With the melting of the ice they also continue to lose large chunks of their home. Seals being the curious animals that they are will check out anything new. This causes them to get stuck in fishing net and other things. Another huge issue is pollution in the water. Things like oil and gas get into the water, which easily kills these animals. So, what can you do to help? Alot actually! Some little things are signing petitons or walking/biking instead of driving your car. Below is a website with many more ways you can help.
